Inside Sales Engineer

UEI is a rapidly growing manufacturer of computer-based data acquisition and control products. We are poised for incredible growth and looking to find an ambitious and motivated individual with previous telemarketing/lead generation/call center experience within the electronics industry or a similar technical environment. This person must have either a technical education or equivalent technical experience along with a passion for sales!

Based in Norwood, MA, this position will report to our Director of Sales and is expected to support our Field Sales Team by researching leads and reaching out to business targets by phone, email, and webinar. This individual will also actively participate in the planning and execution of company marketing activities providing vital input based on his/her interactions with prospects.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts
  • Identify decision makers within targeted leads and begin the sales process
  • Use your networking skills to gain potential customers from known contacts
  • Cold-call prospects that are generated by external sources
  • Collaborate with appropriate team members to determine strategy for sales approach
  • Deliver qualified opportunities to other team members
  • Ensure team follow-up by providing complete profiles and action dates
  • Maintain and update database of prospects and customer accounts in Salesforce
  • Assist in creating RFP’s for potential clients
  • Make follow-up calls to develop and strengthen customer relationships
  • Assist Director of Sales in various facets of account call preparation
  • Support marketing efforts such as trade shows, seminars and other events
  • Handle unsolicited incoming calls from prospects
  • Become well-versed on the features, applications and benefits of UEI products

Position requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Computer Science is ideal) or several years’ experience within a highly technical industry, electronics manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Must enjoy hunting and prospecting within a technical sales environment
  • A minimum of 3-years’ experience in tirelessly cold calling and researching sales leads
  • Demonstrable success in converting prospects to closed sales
  • The ability to persuade using exceptional communication skills and a professional approach
  • A confident, positive attitude and the thick skin needed for cold calling
  • Ability to vet and qualify opportunities by communicating with key decision makers
  • Advanced computer knowledge with a high level of technical aptitude
  • Must be a US citizen able to work unrestricted in the US (no sponsorships at this time)
  • Ability to instantly build rapport with customers; and maintain relationships with your superior customer service
  • Must be highly organized, self-disciplined and a quick learner
  • Must reside or plan to reside within commuting distance of Norwood, MA

This is not an admin role… it requires a tenacious hunter mentality with direct involvement in the sales process. Although this person may occasionally assist in other areas (including quotes, order entry and logistics), the primary focus of this role is to support our Regional Sales Managers in the field.

Considerable training will be provided, but the successful candidate must have a strong technical aptitude to quickly learn the basics of our DAQ, embedded control, test & measurement products as well as our business model. An engineering background is a definite advantage. Along the way, you are guaranteed to learn a lot about our industry and the industries of our customers.
