VISTAS stands for Virtual Interoperable Simulation for Tests of Avionics Systems. In simple terms, this means that VISTAS enable avionics equipment to be easily accessed and controlled remotely through ethernet. In turn, this also allows for equipment to be emulated with I/O devices.
